Weekend Writing Warriors #57 – Revenant (Part 96)

Sunday again, and that means another 8 sentences from the ongoing story of Revenant. As always, these sentences carry on immediately from last week so if you want to see what has come before then just follow this link.

The Chairman pursed his lips, and Kassandra realised she had gone too far. “Though capable of conceding to your superior arguments, Doctor, I am still petty enough to take offence at being condescended to.”
    “I’m sorry, Alex, I shouldn’t—”
“You will have your mission, but you are to play no role in the capture of the infected. Only once the area has been secured by suitably capable others will you be permitted to leave the station.”
    “But.”
“Do I make myself clear, Doctor?”
    Kassandra nodded. “Yes, Sir.”

    1. Thanks. 96 weekly snippets and getting close to 10,000 words. Been doing it for a long time and there’s still a little ways to go before this story is done. I don’t even know how it’s going to end, it literally gets written 8 sentences at a time. 🙂

  1. Hmmm…Kassandra obviously hasn’t twigged that people are inherently emotional rather than rational, and you can’t hope to win arguments by simple logic 🙂

  2. I think most people are offended by being talked down to–you’re only petty if you unfairly take it out on the person who offended you. And sometimes it’s really difficult to be fair…
