Weekend Writing Warriors #18 – Revenant (Part 57)

With my wife enjoying the sunshine in Thailand for a week I am left at home in the cold Melbourne winter. Thankfully writing is something that enjoys solitude so once the chores are done I plan to sink my teeth into some solid wordsmithing. Though we all know what happens to the best laid plans.

We have another 8 sentences from Revenant today, and if you want to refresh your memory about what’s happened you can simply follow this link.

Ryan just smiled and continued his descent. Once they were both at the bottom, he reached into the pouch again and removed something that looked a bit like a stapler with an oversized handle.
“This will help us ascend,” he explained as he clipped the contraption to the cable and squeezed the lever to cut the wire while leaving the handle thing attached. “When we’re ready to climb, we release the handle, lift it up, and then lock it in place to get leverage.”
“And I suppose it’s got some fancy name as well.”
    He shook his head. “Nope.”
    “Well that’s disappointing.”

I hope you’ve enjoyed my contribution to this week’s list, and thanks for stopping by. Click on the image below to see all the wonderful writers who are taking part in this weekly event. weekend-warriors

    1. I can’t say when its being published because right now I can’t be sure when (or even how) it will end. This story is literally being written 8 sentences per week via Weekend Writing Warriors. The link I include in each post has the complete story so far so if you haven’t read that you can see what led to these last few scenes. I expect there’s still a fair way to go, 8 sentences per week might be slow but the whole thing weighs in at just a smidge under 6000 words so far. 🙂
