Weekend Writing Warriors #12 – Revenant (Part 51)

April is almost behind us for another year, and here in OZ the weather begins to turn colder. Thankfully we’ve been blessed with a few mild days of late to help us make the transition to winter. Today I give you 8 more sentences from Revenant. As usual with this story, this snippet follows on immediately after last week. If you want to refresh your memory about what’s happened you can simply follow this link.

    “That’s because it is easy.”
Kassadra took a step forward and peered into the darkened lift well. “I’m not convinced.”
Movement in the corner of his eye caught Ryan’s attention and he spun around to face the threat.
“Get down!” he said and fired twice. The first shot missed, hitting a wall behind the fast approaching husk. The second struck it high in the chest, vaporizing the creature’s left arm and part of its jaw.
Still it kept coming, and behind that lurched three more.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my contribution to this week’s list, and thanks for stopping by.

  1. Loved the action in this snippet, Goran. You can make the last line more powerful by using an action verb in the place of “were”. “Still it kept coming, and behind it lurched/shuffled/shambled three more.” Nice snippet. 🙂

    1. Thanks Siobhan. Have gone with lurched 🙂 Sorry I didn’t respond sooner I have been practically without internet for over a week. It came back this morning…
